“Interlinked” is powered by a single gearmotor connected to a pulley wheel. Small chain is looped over this rotating wheel, so as the wheel spins it feeds the chain in a constant loop. The chain drops down two small “chutes” then falls and piles at the bottom.
Connected to the first wheel is a smaller offset wheel. A small chain loop hangs from this wheel and suspends a third pulley wheel. As the offset wheel rotates it causes the “free floating” third wheel to swing back and forth as it spins.
After being displayed in several locations Interlinked was updated with a few new additions, mainly some color was added. This gave the piece a much more organic feeling.
