“Torando II” uses a fan to re-circulate the air and a fountain mister (diffuser) to make fog, which creates a small tornado. This sculpture can be displayed with the door open or closed. A handle attached to an air control valve changes the dynamics of the tornado or “vortex”. With the valve open it creates a strong solid vortex, but with it closed the tornado comes and goes with small “snake” like movements.
“Tornado II” is actually a series of two sculptures being built almost identically at the same time.
